This is a very familiar scene on our farm. It’s an old red granary built and used by two generations of Day family farmers. It is nestled in a sheltered cattle area that can be scene from my kitchen window. It used to house grain for the cows and horses, now however it shelters some pigeons and maybe an owl at times. I painted this on location (en Plein Air), I was set up under our willow tree for the much needed shade. It was a super hot day in the middle of summer and when ever I look at this painting I feel the heat depicted. It was painted with palette knife.
