I captured a few images from a late afternoon hike on our property one winter. This one is pushing into a abstract feel with the play of light on the snow. Painted with pallet knife only.
This was created en plein air after a short hike near Troll Falls in the amazing area of Kananaskis AB. Using a platte knife and moving quickly because the weather was changing quickly I managed to glean the feeling of this early spring scene.

This was painted on location at Columbia Lake BC. Using pallet knife only, makes for such wonderful textures. I love the Purcell Mountain Range and how the value of the mountains is so noticeably different as it move into the distance.
This lovely little creek meanders thru the little prairie village of Rosebud, AB. I enjoyed a few days in the spring last year painting en Plein Air, in and around this lovely area of my province. This is one of my palette knife creations.

I created this painting on location at the Leighton Center during their paint the Foothills Plein Air Event. This painting was juried as one to win the third place prize! Such a thrill.
Painting was created from an inspired walk along the shores of Lake Louise early one spring. The beauty of the transition from winter to spring was why I choose the name. I painted this heavily textured piece using a palette knife only. This painting was give an award in the Calgary FCA Juried Spring Show. It was awarded 3rd place out of well over 100 juried paintings!
