Painted outdoors on my deck on a warm Sept afternoon. I love growing my own garden and lots of sunflowers! This blue vase just seemed to scream for me to paint it when I put the sunflowers in it. I so enjoyed capturing the beauty of this piece listening to music and the birds on my deck. This piece will be in the Festival Foothills Show at the Leighton Art Centre and can be easily purchased from them until the end of December.
Inspired from a painting trip I did to Lake Ohara in the Yoho National Park a few years ago. I’m so glad I grabbed a few photos of these boats tide to a small dock at the lake, apparently they are not allowing that any longer. Painted on location on the shores of Victoria Lake in the Yoho National Park. During a plein air event I was juried into with the Whyte Museum in Banff. The beauty in this area just takes your breath away. I was alone at this lake and so enjoyed the still quiet and simply ravelled in this perfect afternoon of painting. The teal blue water, the mountains with a touch of snow and the Larch trees beginning to change to their golden yellow.

I loved the experience even if I was soaked to the core! Loved my view and my friends who also endured the weather to create in the iconic location!
This piece is based on an image I took while Kayaking on Lake Louise in the late spring. Still a bit of snow at the south end of the lake. Such an amazing iconic experience that I hope to do again some day.

Painted on a rainy day during the Whyte Centres Plein Air event, where 20 artist where juried into a weekend event in remembrance of J.E.H. McDonalds plein air efforts in the early 1900’s on the 100th anniversary and show of his work in Banff.
This piece was painted en Plein Air in BC near Columbia Lake. I just loved the strength of the trees growing amongst these huge boulders. The trees felt like such an example resilience to me, growing where it was tough ground. Life often challenges us with tough circumstances that if we are up for it, can make us into strong resilient people.
