This lovely waterfall is called Findlay Falls near Canal Flats BC, Canada. I had so much joy creating this and in a rare case now and then, it seemed to just fall off my brush ( and pallet knife ) Thus the name, Joyful Expectancy came to me while painting it. There is such a refreshing feeling that takes place in ones heart as you gaze upon a rushing spring waterfall. It’s hard to put into words, so expressing it in a painting is my best language.

This was a must do image that I captured while kayaking on the dreamy Lake Louise, a couple of years ago. I so enjoy my visits there in every season. It’s simply an awe inspiring area of our Rocky Mountains. It is only a couple hours away from my home and I just can’t get there enough. I’ve painted many paintings some even en Plein Air of this setting but non like this one. Being on the lake and up close to the glacier area on water that was just like glass was a dream. This image of the rental canoe thats also symbolic of Lake Louise,  just had to be incorporated into the painting.

This was inspired from a trip to Canmore last fall. I painted in plein air that day, but also captured many lovely fall images of the Rockies. Golden and brown hues sparkled against the cool blue backgrounds of the amazing Three Sister Mountains. Reflections in the water so added to the eye candy of this scene. This is a very textural painting created with mostly palette knife.
